Utah State Bar Office of Professional Conduct

The Utah Supreme Court governs the licensing and discipline of lawyers in Utah. The process of investigating alleged misconduct, the administration of disciplinary hearings and the possibility of disciplinary action against lawyers is set out in the Court’s Rules of Lawyer Discipline and Disability. The rules are found in the Utah Code of Judicial Administration under the court’s Rules of Professional Practice. The rules are administered jointly by the Bar’s Office of Professional Conduct and by the Court’s Ethics and Discipline Committee and the Committee’s screening panels. The Committee and its screening panels are appointed by the Court and are made up of community representatives and lawyers.

Legal Education In Hungary

Hungary's legal system is modeled on Germany's. Therefore, its legal education system has been heavily influenced by the German tradition, including Germany's teaching methods and its approach to law as a science. During the Communist takeover, the germanic influence was blended with a Soviet influence as many aspects of Soviet legal education were forced on Hungarian universities. However, with the collapse of communism and the subsequent democratic transformation, the Soviet influence has waned. Today, Hungary's legal system is based on the civil law tradition with its emphasis on codification, organization, and abstract scientific thinking.

INTRODUCTION: It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the second edition of The Hong Kong Solicitors' Guide to Professional Conduct. I am sure you will agree that since the Guide was first published in 1995, it has proved most helpful for practising solicitors and foreign lawyers, their staff and students. It has also been of interest to clients and members of the public. The members of the Guide Working Party have met regularly throughout 1996 and 1997 to conduct a thorough and intensive review of the operation of Volume 1 of the Guide.
